FCC obtains the AENOR certification of its Tax Compliance Management System
- The certification has been achieved after a complete audit process that has evaluated the set of processes and procedures established in the FCC Group to achieve a correct implementation of the tax compliance system that covers the different types of taxes payable in Spain, and which extends to the jurisdictions in which the Group is present.
The FCC Group has received AENOR certification for its Tax Compliance Management System, which is granted in accordance with the requirements established in the UNE 19602 Standard, which is the adaptation to the tax field of international compliance standards, also integrating the recommendations of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
AENOR's Business Development Manager, Nicolás Henríquez, presented the certificate to the manager of the FCC Group's Tax Division, Daniel Gómez-Olano, at a ceremony held at the FCC Group's Corporate Headquarters in Las Tablas (Madrid), which was also attended by José Luis Moreno, head of Major Accounts at AENOR; Alfonso Calabia, head of National Taxation and Tax Procedures at FCC, and Enrique Unamunzaga, head of Reporting and Special Operations.
This certification has been achieved after a complete audit process that has evaluated the set of processes and procedures established in the FCC Group to achieve a correct implementation of the tax compliance system that covers the different types of taxes payable in Spain, and which extends to the jurisdictions in which the Group is present.
The employees of the FCC Group and, in particular, the members of the tax function, in the terms defined in the FCC Group's Tax Control Framework Standard, must comply with and enforce compliance with the requirements of the Group's tax compliance management system, with regard to the respective functions and tasks assigned to them within the organization.
The FCC Group carries out very different types of activities in many countries, mainly for the benefit of citizens, and a large part of its clients belong to the public sector. Given the special complexity of the FCC Group, Gómez-Olano stresses, "it is very important to ensure the effectiveness of the internal control systems in tax matters, in order to avoid tax risks that could incur legal liabilities for FCC and its investee companies, or that could damage their image or reputation in the market". Therefore, he adds, "the FCC Group's tax compliance management system constitutes a strategic pillar of the business developed, which extends both to FCC and to the entities over which the Group's parent company exercises control".
During the ceremony, and on behalf of AENOR, Nicolás Henríquez highlighted the "rigorous audit" that has been carried out on the FCC Group, which "allows the company to communicate to all its stakeholders its strong commitment to tax compliance, as well as its clear intention to promote a transparent and ethical business culture". He also pointed out that "this AENOR certification is a reference for designing and articulating criminal risk prevention systems, as it is inspired by the highest international standards in the field".
