We are FCC N28

Tell us briefly about your career path I studied Chemical Engineering and a master’s degree in Industrial Admi- nistration. When I finished my degree and my internship, I started working at Infinita Renovables as a commer - cial engineer. Shortly afterwards, looking for a more technical job, I joined FCC Environmental, a subsi- diary of FCC together at that time, as a Project Engineer in the United States. At this stage of my profes- sional career I participated in seve- ral oil and industrial waste treatment projects. Later, when the company decided to launch the MSW (Munici- pal Solid Waste) collection and treat- ment business, I started working on the design and construction of waste treatment facilities. Over the past few years, I have been involved in the design, construction and also the operation of FCC’s two recycling plants in Texas and the en- vironmental complex in California. This has allowed me to learn a great deal so that I can lead new construc- tion projects for these types of facili- ties in the United States. Andrea Rodríguez Engineering Manager at FCC Environmental Services I N T E R V I E W Equipment at the Houston plant in Texas (USA). What kind of responsibilities do you assume in your position? As the person in charge of the design and construction of the recycling plants, my responsibilities include planning, directing and coordinating the construction of FCC’s recycling facilities in the United States. The big challenge is to always meet the schedule that is proposed to the client, making sure that the work is carried out with all safety procedures and within budget. How did you get to your current position and what were the big- gest challenges along the way? FCC Environmental Services was very small when it was founded in 2014. I have been fortunate to work hand in hand with a great group of professionals who have taught me a lot and have always helped me in my career path. Initially, we were a very small team of people in the United States and it took a lot of hard work and effort from all of us to get the bu - siness off the ground. One of the biggest challenges has been to make ourselves known in this country as one of the world’s leading environmental services com- panies. FCC, a few years ago, was an unknown company in the sector in the US. It has been a very enriching job to convince all the authorities and city councils that FCC has the knowledge and resources to offer an excellent service in both collection and treatment.
