We are FCC - Nº17

The Catalan Institute of Health re- cently awarded FCC Medio Am- biente the contract for the facility management service for a period of two years plus two extensions. The company’s relationship with this entity dates back to 2007, the year from which it has provided uninte- rrupted service. In order to proper- ly provide service in the awarded areas, which are Lleida, Tarrago- na, Girona, Barcelona city and the southern metropolitan area, the company will have 22 maintenance technicians, four service managers and the support of the different de - partments of the division. In this new contract, FCC Medio Ambiente is committed to the im- plementation of clean technolo- gies, which is why the company is adding 22 units of vehicles with an Environmental 0 Label from the Di- rectorate General of Traffic (DGT) into its fleet. In addition to the intelligent elec- tric recharging installations that the company has in its central fa- cility, additional charging points have been installed throughout the working area so that maintenan- ce technicians can optimise their journeys and thus maximise effec - tive working times. In this way, the workers start their day at the custo- mer’s own centre without having to go to the central installations, also contributing to minimising emis- sions into the atmosphere. With this new milestone, FCC Me- dio Ambiente reinforces its com- mitment to the environment and to reducing its carbon footprint, while at the same time ensuring the ope- rational availability of all its equip- ment in a 24-hour, 365-days-a-year service. One of the company’s ob- jectives is to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, leading to the im- provement of its service vehicles in recent years. Innovation is in the DNA of FCC Medio Ambiente, which has been researching electric mobility for more than 45 years, and develo- ped its first 100% electric collec - tion truck in 1974. It currently has a fleet of more than 16,000 vehicles, of which 821 are electric and 1,305 are CNG or Bi-Power. I N N O V A T I O N 63 I N N O V A T I O N
